Kokoda Trek Training Plan
Preparing properly for the Kokoda Track is one of the most important steps toward a safe and successful experience. Kokoda is physically demanding, with sustained climbs, steep descents, humidity and uneven terrain placing stress on both the body and mind. Our structured training plan is designed to progressively build the strength, endurance and resilience required to meet those conditions with confidence.
The program focuses on three key pillars: cardiovascular endurance, lower-body strength and load management. Trekking with a pack over variable terrain requires more than general fitness — it demands specific preparation. We provide guidance on hill training, stair sessions, weighted pack walks and functional strength exercises to ensure your body adapts gradually and safely.
Beyond physical conditioning, preparation also includes recovery, nutrition and injury prevention. Understanding how to manage hydration, foot care and fatigue before departure significantly reduces risk on the Track.
Whether you are already active or starting from a lower base of fitness, we can help tailor your preparation timeline based on your departure date and current capability.
