Australian troops faced Japanese attacks near the village of Efogi. Japanese forces suffered losses, and the Australians held their ground.
Fighting at Efogi formed part of the wider Brigade Hill/Mission Ridge engagement, as Australian forces conducted a fighting withdrawal down the track under sustained pressure.
